Dr. Gustavo Fioravanti

Dr. Gustavo Fioravanti graduated in Biological Sciences, emphasis in Molecular, Cellular and Functional by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2002). Obtained his PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology at Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2008). He is currently Professor of the Postgraduate Program in Health and Human Development at La Salle University and Collaborating Professor of the Postgraduate Program in Genetics and Molecular Biology at UFRGS. His main research are isImmunology, with an emphasis on understanding the structural mechanisms governing T cell immunogenicity for application in the development of streamlined vaccines. He founded and coordinates the Immunoinformatics Center of the Department of Genetics of UFRGS. He received a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2009 for the Grand Challenges Exploration, Round II program. He has collaborated with other structural bioinformatics projects involving the study of oxytocin variants, alpha-1-iduronidase enzyme study, coagulation factors and HIV drug resistance.
